I've started working on something new. It's small now, very delicate. A baby. Or what the first flutterings of love or lust feel like: I'm thinking about it obsessively, reworking it in my mind, wondering how to interpret all the little interactions we've had so far. I've been sitting on this idea for a while. It took writing three books to finally accept that this is how I work: I think and scheme and shuffle along long before I can actually set anything down on paper. I've just begun the crazy, scary part, the part I've been waiting for for months, where I actually test myself and see if I can write the book as well as I can in my imagination. And I'm really excited about the title, for what it's worth. (mbw)
